MOTOR DEALER and/or SALESPERSON: A CANADIAN AUTOBODY & PAINTING LTD. (Dealer #22688)
ISSUE:
- No licensed salesperson at the dealership
OUTCOME:
- Failure to appear at February 15th hearing
- April 26th hearing - promise by dealer principal Gurinderjat (Bobby) Boparia to provide a criminal record check, complete the Salesperson Certification Course and become licensed.
- Dealer to pay late assessment fee of $150 plus licence arrears
- Dealer failed to appear June 21st – license suspended
- Dealer appeared at a hearing July 19th, continuing to promise to complete the course and provide a criminal record check.
- Licence remained suspended
- On September 26th Mr. Boparia again appeared, along with a licensed salesperson whom he claimed would do all of the selling. The dealer principal would stick to repair work and painting.
- The license was issued with the understanding that all licence arrears and penalties would be paid, along with a $350 administrative assessment.
- Mr. Boparia was advised that he could not sell vehicles until he provided a criminal record check, completed the Salesperson Certification Course and also an appropriate ESL program.
