The stakeholders
that are directly
affected by the VSA
are all those
individuals and
businesses involved
in retail vehicle
sales in BC. This
includes consumers,
licensed motor
dealers (or
"dealerships"), and
salespeople working
at licensed
dealerships.
Consumers
will be affected
through the
Authority's
activities in
providing
information and
services to
assist and
protect them in
the buying
process.
Licensed motor
dealers will be
directly affected
through the
licensing process
that will ensure
they are aware of
the regulations
governing the sale
of motor vehicles.
All licensed dealers
will be held
accountable to the
legislation and
regulations
governing their
business operations.
The addition of
mandatory training
and licensing for
salespeople working
in licensed
dealerships
increases the
accountability of
these individuals
and recognizes the
important role that
each person plays in
the vehicle sales
process. This new
licensing
requirement applies
to all persons
working in licensed
dealerships that are
involved in the
retail vehicle sales
process. This will
include the
positions involved
in new and used
vehicle sales as
well as the business
office, lease office
and internet sales.
It will also apply
to all managers
responsible for
retail vehicle sales
activities including
sales managers,
general managers and
dealer principals.
There is more
information
available regarding
each of these three
main stakeholder
groups in separate
sections of this web
site.
